Tactical Opportunities Strategy

  • Asset Class Alternatives

Overview

The GMO Tactical Opportunities Strategy seeks capital appreciation by implementing a long/short investment strategy.

GMO’s Focused Equity team believes that high quality companies have a sustainable competitive advantage and will generate high, stable profits in the future, while low quality companies have risky businesses that are kept afloat by things like leverage, cyclical tailwinds, and “lottery ticket” prospects. The Strategy seeks to invest in high quality securities and short low quality securities, taking advantage of the innate risk characteristics of high quality and junk.
