North America

Jeremy Grantham
Mr. Grantham co-founded GMO in 1977. Prior to GMO’s founding, Mr. Grantham was co-founder of Batterymarch Financial Management in 1969 where he recommended commercial indexing in 1971, one of several claims to being first. He began his investment career as an economist with Royal Dutch Shell. Mr. Grantham serves as GMO’s Chairman and is an active member of GMO’s asset allocation division. He has also served on investment boards of several non-profit organizations. Mr. Grantham has been featured in Forbes, Barron’s and Business Week and is routinely quoted by the financial press. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Sheffield (U.K.) and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.



Thomas Hancock
Dr. Hancock is the director of international developed market and global quantitative equities portfolio management at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, he was a research scientist at Siemens and a software engineer at IBM. Dr. Hancock holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University and B.S. and M.S. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.



Sam Wilderman
Mr. Wilderman is the director of U.S. equity management and is responsible for all U.S. quantitative equities portfolio management at GMO. He is also a member of the Executive Office. Previously at GMO, he was responsible for research and portfolio management for the GMO Emerging Markets Strategy, the GMO Emerging Countries Strategy and the GMO Emerging Markets Opportunities Strategy. He joined GMO following the completion of his B.A. in Economics from Yale University. Mr. Wilderman is a CFA charterholder.



Tomas Bok
Dr. Bok is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team, specializing in designing and implementing trading systems. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at Lehman Brothers as senior vice president of equity quantitative analytics, heading their U.S. algorithmic trading product. Prior to that, he worked at Investment Technology Group (ITG) where he designed and managed the firm’s algorithmic trading products and led the structured trading strategies group. Dr. Bok holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and a B.A. in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University.



John Breedis
Dr. Breedis is responsible for research and portfolio management for international quantitative equities. Prior to joining GMO, Dr. Breedis worked as a senior development engineer for AMP, Incorporated/Tyco Electronics. He earned his B.S. from Lehigh University and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, each in Materials Science and Engineering.



Ed Choi
Mr. Choi is involved in equity analysis and portfolio management for the U.S. equity team. Prior to joining GMO in 1994, Mr. Choi worked for Furman Selz, Inc. He earned a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.



Hassan Chowdhry
Mr. Chowdhry is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as an analyst for Batterymarch Financial. Previously, he worked as a senior analyst for Putnam Lovell NBF. Mr. Chowdhry earned his B.S. in Economics and his B.A.S in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.P.A. from Harvard and his M.B.A. from MIT.



Ty Cobb
Mr. Cobb is a member of the U.S. equity team, conducting fundamental research. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at Brown Brothers Harriman as an administrative officer in the global custody and account services department. Mr. Cobb received a B.A. in Economics/Russian Language from Bucknell University and his M.S. in Finance from Suffolk University. He is a CFA charterholder.



Neil Constable
Dr. Constable works as an analyst in the quantitative area. Prior to joining GMO, he was a quantitative researcher for State Street Global Markets. Dr. Constable earned his B.S. in Physics from the University of Calgary and his Ph.D. in Physics from McGill University.



Kenvor Cothey
Mr. Cothey is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at Morgan Stanley, London, most recently as a technical quantitative analyst. Previously, he worked for Dow Jones, London, as a lead developer. Mr. Cothey earned his M.Sc. in Computation and his M.Phys. in Physics from Balliol College, Oxford University.



David Cowan
Dr. Cowan is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO he worked as a financial analyst and software developer for Nantahala Capital Management. Dr. Cowan earned his B.A. in Mathematics and Religion from Williams College, and his M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago. Additionally, Dr. Cowan received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Tufts University.



Chris Darnell
Mr. Darnell, a member of the GMO Board, manages GMO’s quantitative research effort and leads the Algorithmic Trading group, which he started in 2003. He joined GMO following the completion of the M.B.A. program at Harvard Business School. Mr. Darnell earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University.



Seth Glattstein
Mr. Glattstein is engaged in developing systems for our quantitative products. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for Wellington Investment Management where he was involved in developing products for their investment teams. Previously he was a lead software engineer for Project Software and Development, Inc. Mr. Glattstein earned his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.



Ben Inker
Mr. Inker is the chief investment officer for quantitative equities in global developed markets and director of asset allocation. Mr. Inker joined GMO following the completion of his B.A. in Economics from Yale University. He is a CFA charterholder.



Chuck Joyce
Mr. Joyce is involved in equity analysis and portfolio management for the U.S. quantitative equity portfolios. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for IBM and the U.S. Semiconductor Consortium, Sematech. Mr. Joyce earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his M.B.A. in Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management.



Anthony King
Mr. King is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as an internet consultant for Winmill Software. Mr. King earned his B.S. in Management Science and Information Systems from Penn State University and his M.S. in Computer Science from Boston University.



Sam Klar
Mr. Klar is a member of GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining full-time, he held a co-op position at GMO with the Emerging Markets group. Mr. Klar earned his B.S. in Finance from Northeastern University.



Diane Lopez
Ms. Lopez leads GMO’s global quantitative trading operations group. Prior to joining GMO, she worked at Investors Bank & Trust as a fund accountant. Ms. Lopez earned her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.



Donna Murphy
Ms. Murphy is a senior member of GMO’s U.S. equity quantitative investment team. Prior to joining GMO, she was a partner and co-head of product management for INVESCO within its structured products group. Previously, Ms. Murphy held senior positions with Nicholas Applegate, UBS and the DAIS Group/Templeton. She earned her B.A. in Chemistry and Biology from Elon College and her M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina.



Tara Oliver
Ms. Oliver is engaged in portfolio management for global quantitative equity portfolios. Prior to joining GMO, she was an associate with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting’s investment company practice. Ms. Oliver earned her A.B. from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. She is a CFA charterholder.



Tom Rosalanko
Mr. Rosalanko is the product manager for GMO’s international equity quantitative investment team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at Putnam Investments as a managing director and institutional portfolio manager. Previously, he worked at SEI Corporation and Brown Brothers Harriman. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from MIT and his M.B.A. from The Wharton School, and is a CFA charterholder.



Martin Tarlie
Dr. Tarlie is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO, Dr. Tarlie worked as an analyst for Breakwater Trading. Previously, he worked as the director of research for Marlin Capital Corporation. Dr. Tarlie earned his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Michigan, his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.



Charles Taylor
Mr. Taylor is engaged in global quantitative equities research. Prior to joining GMO, he was a geophysicist with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Taylor earned his B.A. in Geology from New England College and his M.S. in Geophysics from Boston College.



Lucas White
Mr. White is an analyst within GMO’s quantitative team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as a programmer and analyst for Standish Mellon Asset management. Previously, he worked as a programmer and analyst for Massachusetts Financial Services. Mr. White earned his B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Duke University.



Europe

Paul Bostock
Mr. Bostock is managing director of GMO UK and co-founder of the London office. His focus is on leading the firm’s research programme and its business strategy. He has 19 years of investment experience, with primary interests in long-term investment strategy and the valuation of equities. Prior to GMO, he worked as a Quantitative Analyst at Baring Brothers. He holds BA and DPhil degrees in Physics and Elementary Particle Physics respectively from the University of Oxford. He contributes to financial and economic journals.



Simon Harris
Mr. Harris heads the investment team and is the chair of the investment committee for GMO in London. He joined GMO after completing a B.Sc. in Mathematics from The City University (London). Mr. Harris is a Fellow of the Securities Institute.



Naser Bashir
Mr. Bashir is a quantitative analyst in GMO's global equities team. Mr. Bashir holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He also holds an MSc in Computer Science from Birkbeck, University of London and he is a CFA charterholder.



Chris Casey
Mr. Casey is a Portfolio Manager in the UK equities team. Prior to joining GMO, he worked on high-frequency quantitative trading strategies for London-based hedge fund DPFM. Previously, he spent four years building fixed income credit portfolio solutions at UBS in London. Mr. Casey holds a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Otago University in New Zealand, and an MSc in Finance from Birkbeck College, University of London in addition to an MSc in Applied Statistics and Operations Research also from Birkbeck College.



Frank Haertel
Dr. Haertel works in product management for GMO Switzerland. Prior to joining GMO, he acted as the head of investment solutions and services for LGT Capital Management. Previous assignments include positions in quantitative research at UBS Asset Management and investment strategy & product management at UBS Private Banking. Dr. Haertel earned his M.S. in Economical Mathematics from the University of Ulm, his M.S. in Mathematics from Syracuse University, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of St. Gall. He is a certified EFFAS financial analyst.



Anthony Hene
Mr. Hene is responsible for the management of global equity portfolios and has also been involved with the development of the firm’s global quantitative capabilities and the provision of advice to asset allocation clients. Mr. Hene has a MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and holds the CFA designation.



Tom Smith
Mr. Smith is responsible for equity research and development at GMO in London. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as an economic consultant. Mr. Smith holds a B.A. from Cambridge University and an M.Sc. in Economics and Econometrics from Exeter University. He is a CFA charterholder.



Asia-Pacific

Rick Suvak
Mr. Suvak acts as the head of Australian equities for GMO Australia. Previously, at GMO Boston, he was responsible for research and portfolio management for international quantitative equities. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for First Data Corp. Mr. Suvak received his B.A. from Eckerd College and an M.S. in Finance from Bentley College. He is a CFA charterholder.



Olivia Engel
Ms. Engel is engaged in Australian quantitative equities portfolio management at GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, she held various positions at Colonial First State Investments/Commonwealth Investment Management, most recently as portfolio manager for the index funds. Ms. Engel has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics in Econometrics and Statistics from Australian National University. She is a CFA charterholder.



Brad Grehan
Mr. Grehan is a portfolio manager at GMO Australia and is involved with trade execution for Australian equities as well as portfolio management and research. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as a senior dealer in institutional sales and sales trading at Tolhurst Ltd. Previously, Mr. Grehan worked at Morgan Stanley Australia as a sales trader. Mr. Grehan earned his Bachelor of Business in Finance and Accounting from Charles Sturt University.



Vikram Mundkur
Mr. Mundkur is a quantitative analyst in the Australian equities team. He joined GMO in Sydney on completion of his Masters in Statistics (mathematical finance) at the University of New South Wales. Prior to this he held a Project Trainee position at Indus Software Pty Ltd in India. Mr Mundkur has a Bachelor of Commerce (Advanced Statistics) from Pune University, India as well as a Masters in Finance from the ICFAI in Pune, India.



Tommy Tam
Mr. Tam is engaged in data and systems management for GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for the quantitative applications division of Macquarie Bank and was in charge of all the market data services. Mr. Tam earned his Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology from the University of Sydney.



Mark Thompson
Dr. Thompson is involved in quantitative research at GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, he performed research and managed quantitative market neutral and long-short portfolios at State Street Global Advisors. Previously, Dr. Thompson worked at Queensland Investment Corporation as a quantitative research analyst. Dr. Thompson earned his B.S. and PhD in Mathematics from the University of Queensland.



Geoff Wells
Mr. Wells is involved in quantitative research at GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at Macquarie Investment Management for several years, most recently as a senior portfolio manager. Previously, Mr. Wells worked at Bankers Trust Funds Management as a portfolio manager and analyst. Mr. Wells earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance from the University of New South Wales and his graduate diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia.
