North America

Brad Hilsabeck
Mr. Hilsabeck is the head of global client relations. Prior to joining GMO, he worked as a senior principal, directing client relations and business development at State Street Global Advisors. Previously he held positions at Putnam Investments and Aetna Capital Management. Mr. Hilsabeck earned his B.A. from Westminster College in Missouri.



John Morey
Mr. Morey leads GMO’s U.S. client relationship management effort. Prior to joining GMO, he was a senior vice president for Putnam Investments, engaged in sales and relationship management activities. Previously, Mr. Morey was a managing director and national sales manager for BankBoston’s Private Client Group. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Saint Anselm College and a Graduate Certificate from the Boston College Carroll School of Management.



John Allen
Mr. Allen is a client relationship manager in GMO’s Berkeley Office. Prior to joining GMO, he was vice president of investments for Andell Holdings. Previously, he was a senior analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Allen earned his B.S. in Economics from the University of Virginia.



Phil Bennett
Mr. Bennett is a client relationship manager at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, Mr. Bennett was the head of product marketing for Mellon Capital Management. Previously, he worked in institutional consulting for Ennis Knupp & Associates. He earned his B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University and his M.B.A. from DePaul University.



Katherine Burke
Ms. Burke is a member of the client service team. Prior to joining GMO, she held various positions at State Street Corporation, most recently as a performance consultant. Previously, she held various roles at AEW Capital Management and Fidelity Investments. Ms. Burke earned her B.A. in Economics from University of Massachusetts Amherst, her M.B.A. from Bentley College and she is a CFA charterholder.



Lydia Cottrell
Ms. Cottrell is a member of the client service team. Prior to joining GMO, she worked in the planned giving office of Harvard University. She also worked as a customer service representative with Pioneer Mutual Funds. Ms. Cottrell earned a B.S. in psychology from St. Lawrence University.



Adam Dicker
Mr. Dicker is engaged in client relations and business development for institutional and private investors. Prior to joining GMO, he worked at State Street Global Advisors in the institutional marketing division. Previously, he worked in the marketing department of The Boston Company. Mr. Dicker earned a B.A. in Economics from Wheaton College



Lisa Ferrara
Ms. Ferrara is a relationship manager at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, Ms. Ferrara was a senior vice president with Putnam Investments’ strategic relationship team. Previously, she served as vice president and director of institutional client information services at Morgan Stanley Investment Management and as a vice president and investment consultant for State Street Analytics, the performance measurement group of State Street Bank. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College and her MBA from the University of Phoenix.



Maryann Grimm
Ms. Grimm is engaged in client relations for institutional and private investors. Prior to joining GMO’s client service team, she served as the investment division controller for the firm’s U.S. active division. She joined GMO following her employment in the U.S. mutual fund division at State Street Bank. Ms. Grimm earned a B.A. in Government from Colby College.



John Jacobi
Mr. Jacobi is involved in global client relations. Prior to joining GMO in 2000, he held positions with John Hancock Funds and Thomson Investment Software. Mr. Jacobi earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and his M.S. in Finance from Boston College.



Peter Leahy
Mr. Leahy is the head of product development and management for our marketing and client services team. Prior to joining GMO in 2009, he held numerous positions with State Street Global Advisors, including chief product officer and executive vice president. Previously, he was the chief operating officer for State Street Global Advisors as well as their head of global structured products group. Mr. Leahy earned his M.B.A in Finance from the University of Chicago and his B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College. He is a CFA charterholder.



Wendy Malaspina
Ms. Malaspina is engaged in client relations. Prior to joining GMO, she worked at Montgomery Asset Management / Wells Capital Management, most recently as a director in institutional client service and marketing. Previously, she worked as a director of client service, marketing and investor relations at Draper Advisers and as a supervisor of private client services at Wells Fargo Bank. Ms. Malaspina received her B.A. from Clemson University.



Molly Manning
Ms. Manning is a relationship manager at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, Ms. Manning was a senior consultant at New England Pension Consultants. Previously, she worked as a senior marketing and client service associate for Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Amherst College.



Kim Mayer
Mr. Mayer is engaged in client relations and is responsible for GMO’s partnership with John Hancock. Prior to joining GMO, he held numerous positions at Morgan Stanley, most recently managing the U.S. Fixed Income Syndicate Desk. Mr. Mayer earned his B.A. in History from Princeton University.



Richard McQuaid
Mr. McQuaid manages GMO’s partnership with Evergreen Investments. His responsibilities at GMO have also included portfolio management for GMO’s quantitative tax-managed equity strategies and the Firm’s real estate fund. Prior to joining GMO, he was director of European operations for Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch and managed its London branch. Prior to that, he practiced international law from 1977 to 1987. Mr. McQuaid earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from Boston College Law School.



Allison Popeo
Ms. Popeo is a client relationship manager at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, she held numerous positions at Fidelity Investments, most recently as a senior account executive within Fidelity’s Institutional Division. Previously, Ms. Popeo was an auditor for Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLC. Ms. Popeo earned her B.S. in Accounting from Bucknell University and her M.B.A. from Babson College. She is a Certified Public Accountant.



Jody Shuman
Ms. Shuman is engaged in client service and marketing. At GMO she has been involved in international equity research and management. She has also been responsible for the construction, trading and analysis of U.S. quantitative portfolios. Prior to joining GMO, Ms. Shuman served in the metropolitan loan division of Chemical Bank, New York. Ms. Shuman earned her B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Dartmouth.



Mason Smith
Ms. Smith is responsible for client relations for some of GMO’s larger clients and is a part of the asset allocation team. She has been involved with U.S. quantitative trading and operations. She joined GMO following the completion of her undergraduate studies in History at the University of Virginia.



Tom G. Smith
Mr. Smith is a client relationship manager at GMO. Prior to joining GMO, Mr. Smith was a client relationship officer with Barclays Global Investors. Previously, he worked as a general consultant for RogersCasey. He earned his B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Vermont and his M.B.A. from Babson College.



Carolyn Van Putten
Ms. Van Putten is a member of the client service team. Prior to joining GMO, she worked as a marketing officer and manager at State Street Global Advisors. Previously she was a corporate lending officer at ABN Amro Bank. Ms. Van Putten earned her undergraduate degree in Finance at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and holds an M.B.A. from Babson College.



Europe

Nicholas Burgoyne
Mr. Burgoyne is a client relationship manager in GMO’s London office. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for 30 years in London’s financial sector as a portfolio manager and in client services. Mr. Burgoyne has an MBA from the Open University



Tobias Müller
Mr. Müller is responsible for GMO’s client relationship management and business development in Switzerland. Prior to joining GMO in 2007, he worked for UBS Global Asset Management on their group internal audit. Mr. Müller earned his MSc in Business and Economics from the University of Bern, Switzerland. He is a CFA charterholder.



Urban Mueller
Mr. Mueller is managing director of GMO’s London and Zurich offices. Prior to joining GMO in 2004, he worked at State Street Global Advisors AG in Switzerland, most recently as its managing director. Previously, he worked for Pictet & Cie Bankers as assistant to the chief investment officer. Mr. Mueller earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland and his M.S. in Economics from the London School of Economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.



Bart Noordman
Mr. Noordman joined GMO Zurich as a part of the client relationship and business development team. Prior to joining GMO, Mr. Noordman was an investment consultant for Towers Perrin in Amsterdam. He also worked as a portfolio manager for F&C Asset Management in both Amsterdam and London. Mr. Noordman earned his B.S. in Economics from the University of Groningen, and he is a CFA charterholder.



Ian Thompson
Mr. Thompson is a client relationship manager in GMO’s London office. Prior to joining GMO, he worked for more than 25 years in consultancy and asset management. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from Leicester University.



Asia-Pacific

Glen Howard
Mr. Howard is the head of business development and client service for Asia Pacific and is also the managing director for GMO’s operations in Singapore. Prior to joining GMO, he was the head of investment consulting for South East Asia at Towers Perrin. Previously he was a portfolio manager at Perpetual Investments. Mr. Howard has a Business degree and a Masters degree in Finance, both from the University of Technology, Sydney.



Zane Bernstein
Mr. Bernstein is a client relationship manager for GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO in 2009, he was vice president and manager of institutional relationships for AllianceBernstein. Previously, he was head of the client relations team for AllianceBernstein. Mr. Bernstein earned his B.B. in Finance and Economics from The University of Technology, Sydney.



Keri Pratt
Ms. Pratt is responsible for client relationship management and marketing for GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, she acted as the director of investment services working on marketing for Capital International Inc. Previously, she was a superannuation consultant and business unit manager for MLC. Ms. Pratt earned her M.B.A. from the University of New South Wales and has a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance through the SIA.



Lisa Walker
Mrs. Walker works as a client relationship manager for GMO Australia. Prior to joining GMO, she worked at Barclays Global Investors where she was most recently a client manager. Mrs. Walker earned her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Marketing from Sydney University, her Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments from the Securities Institute of Australia, and currently completing her Masters in Applied Finance and Investments from FINSIA.
